Vincent Kompany suffers yet another injury

Vincent Kompany just can't stay fit. The Manchester City centerback suffered another injury that will keep him out for four to six weeks, Pep Guardiola confirmed.

Kompany came off the field in City's win last weekend with a concussion. However, it is not the concussion that will keep him out. After being examined by the team doctor, he was diagnosed with ligament damage in his knee.

This will likely bring Kompany's 2016 to an end. It was one marred by injuries, as groin, thigh and calf injuries sidelined him for stretches of the year. Now he can add a knee injury to the list, and call 2016 a wrap.

Kompany has only started two league matches this season so City are hardly reliant on him and the 11 goals they've allowed this season is a respectable number. It's not as if they've been falling apart at the back, as Guardiola's system has helped masked their defensive issues. John Stones is already being groomed as the man to hold the backline together -- despite some issues, he arguably is already that man -- but adding Kompany to that defense could have been a major boost. Hopefully, he can return in January and find his form in time to help City when the Champions League knockout stages kick off in February.
