Vincenzo Montella replaces Christian Brocchi as AC Milan coach
AC Milan have announced the arrival of 42-year-old Vincenzo Montella as manager, with the former Italian international putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Montella replaces Christian Brocchi, whose reign lasted barely three months following his replacement of Serbian Sinisa Mihajlovic for the final third of Milan's 2015/16 season. Promoted from his role as coach of AC Milan's Primavera, the former Milan midfielder was unable to guide the Rossoneri to a European place, the third season running Milan have missed out on continental qualification.
Milan have gone through seven different managers since Carlo Ancelotti's departure in 2009, and the club currently stands on uncertain ground as they undergo a possible takeover from a Chinese consortium following years of financial instability.
Montella, who previously coached at Catania, Fiorentina and Roma, replaced Walter Zenga at Sampdoria early last season, helping guide the club to Serie A safety before accepting the offer to replace Brocchi. Montella will reportedly earn approximately $2.5 million a year plus bonuses as Milan boss, with the club paying around $550,000 to secure his services from Sampdoria.
