Ajax is part of the Domestic Champions path in the UEFA Youth League, which pits 32 clubs whose senior teams are not involved in the Champions League, in a knockout-style competition until the final 16. The 32 clubs whose senior teams are involved in Champions League engage in a group stage-knockout stage tournament akin to what the Champions League is like.
The final eight standing from the Domestic Champions path and eight from the Champions League path then go knockout-style to determine the winner.
