Watch an ecstatic Dom Dwyer officially become a U.S. citizen
Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer officially became a U.S. citizen on Thursday, opening the door for him to play for the USMNT. If you thought Dwyer sounded excited after taking the Oath of Allegiance, wait until you see how pumped the 26-year-old was during the whole process.

The whole family was on hand to see the ceremony, including the USWNT's Sydney Leroux Dwyer and newborn Cassius Dwyer. The Sporting KC striker's beaming smile is on full display. He's shaking hands with fellow to-be citizens, waving a small American flag and soaking in the whole experience.
"It's real," he says with a grin. "It's done."
Dwyer's road to becoming a U.S. citizen started back in 2009 when he moved to Texas from England. With only a few more small hurdles in his way, Dwyer could soon play for the USMNT. All he needs to do now is secure a U.S. passport, complete FIFA paperwork and then, most importantly, get the call from Bruce Arena.
