Watch Benny Feilhaber score a screamer from 25 yards out to open his 2017 account
Benny Feilhaber may have missed out on the U.S. national team roster for next week's World Cup qualifier, but he's putting in work for Sporting Kansas City -- and scoring golazos while he's at it.
Feilhaber opened his 2017 scoring account with a long-range super strike from about 25 yards out in a 2-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes:

Feilhaber's strike seemed to take everyone by surprise, including goalkeeper David Bingham, whose feet appeared to be stuck in cement on the strike.
It's an audacious effort, but perfectly hit as it nicked just under the crossbar:

It might be a little bittersweet for USMNT fans to see Feilhaber scoring such a gorgeous goal -- he didn't make Bruce Arena's 24-man roster for Friday's World Cup qualifier vs. Honduras (10:30 p.m. ET, FS1). But Arena has had to make his share of changes to the roster, and he might still make more before the USMNT's following match in Panama -- and Feilhaber might be giving him something to think about.
Either way, it's a great goal and a nice way to start 2017 for Feilhaber.
