Canada started their womens' soccer Olympics campaign with high hopes, but playing a tough team in Australia to open the competition. The Canadians knew they had to start fast, but they probably didn't expect to start as quickly as they did.

Canada set an Olympic record for the fastest goal ever by scoring just 20 seconds in.

That's about as quick a start as you can get. It's definitely the quickest in the history of the Olympic Games.

Australia did their part to help Canada out with that terrible giveaway and once Christine Sinclair got the ball on her foot, Canada were feeling good. Unsurprisingly, she hit a perfect pass for a shot Janine Beckie was never going to miss.

It wasn't all good for Canada, though. Shelina Zadorsky made Olympics history herself, picking up the fastest red card ever when she was sent off in the 20th minute, but Canada were just fine with 10 women. Sinclair added a second-half goal and Canada cruised.
