Watch: Clint Dempsey grants wish for terminally ill young fan

Clint Dempsey helped make a terminally ill child's day before Saturday's game at CenturyLink Field.

Nathan Beatty and his family visited Seattle from Texas as the child wanted to see Clint Dempsey and his favorite team play. Beatty was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, which is a brain tumor.

“Unfortuntately, it's not a great diagnosis so we have sort of a bucket list,” his mother Tara said. “Nathan's favorite team is the Seattle Sounders and his favorite player is Clint Dempsey because Clint Dempsey is from Texas and Nathan's from Texas. Nathan loves soccer. Our bucket list was to meet Clint Dempsey and to come to Seattle and actually see a game.”

The Sounders helped facilitate a visit from Beatty but did not inform him that he would meet Dempsey. He received a phone call from Dempsey before the player popped out to meet him.

The family attended a game in Houston that featured the Sounders and Dynamo but Dempsey was unable to make the team's road trip.
