Watch Didier Drogba confront opposing fans in heated exchange

The New York Red Bulls clinched an MLS playoff spot by beating the Montreal Impact on Saturday, but Impact striker Didier Drogba seemed to be upset after the game for some other reason.

According to reports from Red Bull Arena, Drogba got into a heated argument with what looked like a pair of New York Red Bulls fans. Security had to intervene:

It’s not clear what is going on here, but Impact forward Matteo Mancuso watched as Drogba and a fan tangled in a heated exchange. Security for the Impact pulled him away, but then Drogba turned back and started to re-enter the argument. He was pulled away again while Red Bulls security helped keep the fans at bay.

A reporter for a Quebec television station saw the exchange and tweeted (translated): "Didier Drogba was angry at very loud and disrespectful RB supporters. His security guard had trouble with them."

Drogba later told the reporter, "They crossed the line a bit, that's all."

Whatever the argument was about, maybe Drogba can use it as fuel to get his team through to the playoffs, where the Impact could face the Red Bulls one more time this year. The Impact sit fifth on the Eastern Conference table with three games left to play. The Red Bulls currently sit in a three-way tie for first with Toronto FC and New York City FC, but No. 1 on tiebreakers.
