U.S. men's national team standout Fabian Johnson got on the board for Borussia Monchengladbach Tuesday, scoring in the club's German Cup match against Stuttgart by finishing off a beautiful sequence.
Johnson embarked on a smart run and latched onto Andre Hahn's expert back-heel assist, putting Monchengladbach up 1-0 in the 31st minute. The goal was Johnson's second in all competitions this season and his first since a 1-1 draw against RB Leipzig on Sept. 21.
Johnson is the third U.S. international to score in the competition on Tuesday, joining Bobby Wood and Andrew Wooten. Watch Johnson's below:
Now in his third season at Monchengladbach, Johnson has 11 goals in all competitions with the club.
Presuming full health and fitness, Johnson figures to be a key part of Jurgen Klinsmann's U.S. squad for World Cup qualifiers against Mexico and Costa Rica next month.
