Watch: Iceland completes late comeback vs. Finland on controversial goal
Iceland rolled its Euro 2016 magic into 2018 World Cup qualifying, scoring 90th- and 95th-minute goals to come back and stun Finland 3-2 in Reykjavik on Thursday, but the result was not secured without controversy.
Ragnar Sigurdsson's winner at the death appeared to have been saved by goalkeeper Lucas Hrdaecky, and it was unclear whether it fully crossed the line (or if it was handled), only for it to be given. Alfred Finnbogason booted it over the line and out of Hradecky's loose grip for good measure, too. Finland players protested, but the goal stood, giving Iceland four points from its first two qualifiers following a draw at Ukraine last month.
Finland twice blew one-goal leads, having Kari Arnason match Teemu Pukki's opener and Alfred Finnbogason score in the 90th minute to negate Robin Lod's 39th-minute strike. Gylfi Sigurdsson also missed a penalty for Iceland, one that would've made it 2-2 in the 51st minute.
