Joe Allen scored a tremendous goal for Wales in its World Cup qualifying match vs. Austria Thursday, lacing a volley from outside the area to open the scoring. The goal was matched by his Stoke City teammate Marko Arnautovic, but Wales re-took the lead on a Kevin Wimmer own goal just before halftime to seize the advantage after the opening half in Vienna.
Chris Gunter's header after a failed Austria clearance bounced right up for an in-stride Allen, who connected with a perfect left-footed strike.

Wales and Austria are the favorites in Group D, which also includes the Republic of Ireland, Serbia, Georgia and Macedonia.
