Watch Manuel Neuer somehow kick a soccer ball off his own face

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:35 p.m. ET

Germany beat Czech Republic 3-0 in a routine dismantling of the visitors, with Manuel Neuer left to mainly play the role of glorified spectator. He barely got a kick of the ball during the game, facing only one shot on target by the beleaguered Czechs.

When Neuer's time finally did come to exercise his visitation rights with the sphere in question, he'd spent so much time away from the ball, it responded in an unfamiliar fashion and tried to attack him.

Fantastic.

What should've been a routine retrieval of a loose ball from the goal turned into a moment that, thanks to the internet, we'll never ever forget. The best part about all of this? Neuer trying to play it off as if the world's cameras weren't trained on him and we wouldn't be able to replay this clip over and over and over again simply to revel in his momentary ignominy.

We saw it, Neuer. You may just be the world's best goalkeeper, but the Internets saw you fail. And the Internets never forget.
