Watch Miguel Layun rescue FC Porto's Champions League campaign
Porto were expected to compete with Leicester for first place in Group G of the Champions League but instead, they drew at home to Copenhagen and lost to Leicester. They desperately needed a result against Club Brugge on Tuesday or would be on the verge of going out of the competition just halfway through the group stage. And falling behind, 1-0, wasn't a good start.
Then Miguel Layun came to their rescue.
Porto definitely didn't look good in the match, but this goal put them on the front foot and then they won from the penalty spot in stoppage time. It catapulted them to three points and right back into the mix to advance from Group G.
It wasn't as if Porto came together and figured things out to get that equalizer either. It was just Layun doing work. Porto had the Mexican on loan a year ago before deciding to buy him outright in the summer and if this point is the difference between their advancing and not, he's a signing well worth every single penny. You know, on top of the fact that he's just a good player.
