Watch Robbie Keane score in his final match for Ireland and walk off to huge cheers

Robbie Keane is the the Republic of Ireland's best player ever. He has the national team record for appearances and goals, and he spent a decade as their captain. He was an institution in Ireland green and a national hero. So when Keane announced that he would be retiring from Ireland and that Wednesday's friendly against Oman was going to be his last match for his country, it was a big deal.

And then he went out and did this.

That's the 68th goal of his Ireland career, a number even more impressive when you realize that the next best goalscorer in the national team's history has 21 goals. And that's a damn good goal too. He didn't get some random tap in or odd deflection. It's gorgeous and exactly how he deserves to go out.

Speaking of going out, it got a little dusty when he walked off the pitch for the final time.

That was every bit the spectacular night that Keane deserved.
