Watch: Sebastian Pol leaps into stands, kicks a fan in Chilean league match
A player in Chile's top flight was arrested for leaping into the stands and sensationally kicking a fan over the weekend.
Audax Italiano forward Sebastian Pol reportedly took issue with insults from a fan following a 4-1 loss to Universidad Catolica, and he jumped onto the top of the barrier separating the fans from the playing field. He menacingly took a right-footed swipe at the fan, connecting with his arm.
He was arrested and has been provisionally banned from attending any sporting events for 20 days, according to reports. Further punishment may be instituted by the Chilean federation.
Video of the incident is below (with Pol's involvement starting at the 30-second mark):
“I’m really full of regret for this,” Pol said, according to Reuters. “I apologize to him profusely. I didn’t mean to strike him, I just wanted to frighten him. It’s something new that life has taught me.”
Such as the lesson not to jump into the stands to kick fans.
