West Brom striker Saido Berahino goes full Ronaldo in a bid to prove his fitness
Saido Berahino's troubles just don't seem to stop with West Brom. His problems started with the very public spat between him and the West Brom management after they rejected two bids from Tottenham in the summer of 2015. He later repaired the rift by apologizing, and returning to training with the club, but now the England U-21 striker is back in the news. For a selfie.
Berahino has started this season poorly, playing five matches without a single goal. In response to his reported poor condition, Baggies manager Tony Pulis sent Berahino to France on a special four-day fitness program to get him into top shape.
It appears Berahino already feels like he's fully fit though, because while at the center, he went full Ronaldo, letting this selfie fly on his Instagram story:
Said Pulis, "Saido's off at a fitness centre working with a fella I worked with when I was young in management. He's got a week to top himself up to a level where hopefully he'll be not only sharp but at a level to sustain it. The first six months here he was excellent - that's what we're trying to do, get him back to that level."
Berahino doesn't look overweight, but of course, a selfie proves nothing about actual match fitness levels. Nonetheless, it does seem like the West Brom striker is working hard to get back to peak condition, with further Instagram posts showing him at the gym, one with the enthusiastic caption "Lets go!!!"
Berahino will miss the weekend's clash with Leicester City, but he's expected to return to full training next week.
In the news or no, lord knows West Brom could probably use his services. They've won just one of their last six matches and they only have 12 goals in 11 games.
