Wolfsburg complete move for Dante from Bayern Munich
Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Brazilian defender Dante from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee.
After reaching an agreement with Bayern on Sunday, the northern Germany club announced on Monday the 31-year-old has signed a three-year contract.
"We're delighted that Dante has chosen to join Wolfsburg," said Wolfsburg's director of sport Klaus Allofs.
"We're getting a player who gives us even more options and more quality in defense and he also has a lot of international experience, which is important in view of our upcoming tasks in three competitions."
Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking added: "Dante is an established Bundesliga player who is going to help us immediately and, as a left-footer, he increases our variety in the center of our defence.
"With his quality and his character, he fits in to our squad excellently."
Dante has been given the number 18 shirt at Wolfsburg and will look to add to his 179 Bundesliga appearances and 11 goals.
He first arrived in Germany in 2009, joining Borussia Monchengladbach from Standard Liege.
Three-and-a-half years later, he moved to Bayern and went on to win three Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League in 2013.
"I'm really looking forward to this new challenge at Wolfsburg and being able to continue playing at the highest level," said Dante.
"I'm convinced that we will be able to latch onto the success of last season at Wolfsburg and challenge for the title."
