Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost out for six weeks with foot injury
WOLFSBURG, Germany --
Wolfsburg says striker Bas Dost will be out for at least six weeks with a foot injury and the Bundesliga club may shop for another forward during the January transfer window.
Dost broke a bone in his foot during practice at the team's training camp in Portugal while fighting for the ball with teammate Dante. The club says Dost is likely to have surgery. The Dutchman leads Wolfsburg with seven goals in the first half of the season.
Wolfsburg director Klaus Allofs says the club will ''now consider what options are possible'' in the transfer market. Backup striker Nicklas Bendtner may now stay at the club despite being considered for a loan deal.
Wolfsburg has qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League and next plays Gent.
