Women's Super League games get free live worldwide streaming

LONDON (AP) — All Women's Super League matches from England will be broadcast live internationally for the first time on a free streaming service.

The English Football Association is launching an app for live coverage of all 132 WSL games each season as well as one live game each round from the second-tier Championship.

The FA Player is part of a drive to grow the women's game by attracting new audiences after the World Cup in France where England reached the semifinals last month.

The WSL season starts on Sept. 7 with the first women's Manchester derby between City and newly promoted United. Since that game is live domestically on the BT Sport channel, only audio will be broadcast in the UK on the FA Player but the video feed will be available on the app in the rest of the world.

In its second season as Europe's only fully professional domestic female football league, the WSL will be sponsored by Barclays. The title sponsorship deal is worth more than 10 million pounds ($12 million) over the next three seasons.
