Amanda Nunes interested in pursuing second world title 'like Conor McGregor'
In 2016, Amanda Nunes defeated three of the best women's bantamweight fighters on the planet, including two future Hall of Famers in Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey.
Her latest performance over Rousey was nothing short of stunning as Nunes dismantled the former champion with a 48-second first round knockout at UFC 207.
Nunes is currently riding a five-fight win streak in the division with additional victories over Valentina Shevchenko as well as former Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann.
Of course, Nunes still has challenges left at 135-pounds, including a potential rematch with Shevchenko, who she beat in a hard fought decision or a showdown with former "Ultimate Fighter" winner Julianna Pena, who has gone undefeated since joining the UFC roster.
While the UFC will ultimately decide what comes next for Nunes, the women's bantamweight champion has a few ideas about what she would like to pursue after her blistering performance over Rousey last weekend.
"Honestly, I want to take a little time, enjoy it a little bit but I really look forward to this 145-pound belt," Nunes revealed when speaking to TMZ Sports.
"Maybe I'll go up to fight for the 145-pound belt. We'll see. Maybe I'm going to have two belts like Conor McGregor."
The organization is set to introduce the women's featherweight division in February with a title fight between former bantamweight champion Holly Holm and noted Muay Thai striker Germaine De Randamie at UFC 208 in Brooklyn.
Nunes actually holds a TKO win over De Randamie from her second fight in the UFC and Holm was the first fighter to hand Rousey a loss last November.
Following back-to-back wins over two legends of women's mixed martial arts, it certainly appears that Nunes is ready to make history again.
McGregor stands as the only fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously after winning the featherweight and lightweight titles but Nunes certainly sounds interested in joining the record books after the women's featherweight division is introduced in February.
