Jussier Formiga draws Henry Cejudo at UFC Fight Night in Mexico
A battle of top-five flyweights is headed to Mexico when No. 3 ranked Jussier Formiga faces No. 5 ranked Henry Cejudo as part of the UFC Fight Night card in Monterrey on Nov. 21.
UFC officials announced the fight on Monday night.
A winner of three fights in a row, Jussier Formiga has overcome a rough start when he first joined the UFC to climb back up the divisional rankings and put himself just a couple of wins away from a potential title shot.
Formiga has defeated Scott Jorgensen, Zach Makovsky and Wilson Reis in consecutive fights and he'll look to make it four in a row when he travels to Mexico later this year.
Cejudo might be on a similar trajectory towards the title after his 3-0 start in the UFC, including a win over former title challenger Chris Cariaso.
The Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling from 2008 will look to cement himself as a legitimate title threat with a win over Formiga in November.
Formiga vs. Cejudo joins a growing card in Mexico including the five-round main event pitting Matt Brown against Kelvin Gastelum in a matchup of top-15 welterweights.
The card will air live on FOX Sports 1.
