Kamaru Usman wins TUF Finale over Hayder Hassan by second-round submission

Kamaru Usman said that he'd control where his TUF 21 Finale bout against Hayder Hassan was fought and bring the season trophy home to his Blackzilians team, and he did both of those things Sunday with a second-round submission victory. Usman forced a tap out at 1:19 with an arm-triangle choke from top position.

Usman worked to take the American Top Team's Hassan to the mat from the start of their welterweight fight, but "Hulk" proved difficult take down, early. When Usman did get Hassan to the mat, the ATT fighter was tough to keep down.

However, Usman continued grinding away and scoring more takedowns, eventually establishing dominant positions in the latter part of the first period. Usman took Hassan's back multiple times and ended the round on top, hurting him with punches and elbows.

In the second round, Hassan came out swinging and hurt Usman with a right uppercut to the jaw. Usman got out of danger by scoring yet another double-leg takedown.

From there, Usman took Hassan's back again, scored another takedown and moved to the mount, near the cage. From there, Usman locked in an arm-triangle choke and exited out to his right to finish it.

With the win, Usman improved his record to 6-1 and won The Blackzilians team $300,000 and himself a motorcycle. Hassan's record dips to 6-2.

"I feel great. It was a long road. I've been working so hard for this," Usman said, afterwards.

"I knew I could get the job done for us."
