Marcin Tybura wins first UFC fight with nasty head-kick knockout
Marcin Tybura scored his first UFC win Saturday night after dropping opponent Viktor Pesta with a vicious head kick during the UFC Fight Night prelims.
Tybura pushed the pace in the opening round and forced Pesta to fight backwards as he landed several punch-kick combinations and found a home for his right hand en route to an 18-4 total strikes landed advantage in the first round.
Pesta tried to turn it up in the second, but less than a minute into the round, Tybura used a jab-hook combo to set up the fight-finishing head kick. John McCarthy stepped in at the 53 second mark of round two.
“We’ve been preparing this combination for tonight. We knew he put his hands down and that kick might be there ... that was a part of the plan.” Tybura said to Jon Anik in his post-fight interview.
The win pushes Tybura’s professional record to 14-2 while Pesta falls to 10-3.
