Mick Foley sends heartfelt message to CM Punk before UFC debut
Former WWF champion Mick Foley has shown time and time again that he not like every other professional wrestler, and he reiterated that this week when he sent a heartfelt message to former WWE superstar CM Punk before his UFC debut this Saturday.
Most WWE superstars have remained quiet about Punk’s upcoming debut, which is understandable considering the way the wrestler-turned-fighter left the promotion and his current relationship with WWE head honcho Vince McMahon.
But Foley, who had his fair share of run-in with Punk during their time in the WWE, put politics aside to wish his friend good luck before he takes the giant leap into the world of mixed martial arts.
“Hey, Punk, it’s your old friend Mick Foley. Just wanted to tell you that I’m rooting for you, a lot of people are rooting for you. A lot of people are rooting against you but I know you’re the type of guy that really enjoys proving people wrong. I know nothing is certain in life or in UFC, but if theres one thing I would be on, it’s that win, lose or draw, you will leave absolutely everything you have out there in the Octagon. I’m proud of you, as I know you’re going to do great. Best of luck, buddy.”
Punk is scheduled to take on Mickey Gall in his first fight under the UFC banner this Saturday at UFC 203. Punk announced his desire to make the switch back in 2014 and after nearly two years and a few bumps and bruises along the way, he’s finally ready to step into the Octagon.
