Rashad Evans says 'I'm ready' to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 200

LAS VEGAS --- Former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans is in town and ready to go for gold once more, even on short notice. Jon Jones has been removed from UFC 200 due to a supposed drug test failure and UFC president Dana White said Wednesday night that he was hoping to get light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier a last-minute replacement for Saturday.

Evans told Submission Radio on Thursday that he'd be happy to be that man.

"I'm ready. If they call me and say, 'Hey, you've got to fight DC,' or 'Would you want to?' I would do it in a minute," the 36-year-old Evans said.

"I sent my manager to talk to them and see what they say. We'll see what happens."

Evans and Cormier were once set to fight one another, years ago, before an injury forced Evans out. "Suga" has lost his last two bouts since returning to action in 2015, but he said he wouldn't hesitate to jump in the cage against the champ in just two days if his offer is accepted.

"If it happens, it happens. If it don't, it don't. I just said I would," he continued.

Evans went on to say that while he may not be in peak condition, he's confident that he could get it done — and that a short-notice replacement usually has the advantage over the favorite in situations like these. "It would be a good fight. I think DC would try to wrestle me," he said.

"I kind of stay in constant shape. I'm not in fight shape, but I can run miles and be alright. I can train and not be too winded but at the end of the day. ... I'm a fighter. I know how to fight. I've been fighting for 13 years. So if it has to happen, it has to happen. I'm going to figure it out."
