TJ Dillashaw: Urijah Faber acting like a 14-year-old girl starting drama
The fallout between TJ Dillashaw and Urijah Faber has continued to escalate ever since the former bantamweight champion left his old camp at Team Alpha Male to relocate to Colorado to join the Elevation Fight Team in Denver.
Faber had recruited Dillashaw out of college to join his Sacramento-based gym and the two of them worked together for several years with great results.
But Dillashaw's exit left a bad taste in Faber's mouth and he's spoken out against his former teammate several times since the split happened last year.
Most recently the jabs have turned to accusations as Faber has started pointing at the transformation of Dillashaw's body, which hints at the fact that he believes the former champion dabbled in performance-enhancing drugs. Faber never directly made the accusation, but Dillashaw reacted harshly after he heard what his former coach and friend said about him.
"Actually, that's kind of crossing the line," Dillashaw told "UFC Tonight" on Wednesday while speaking about Faber. "He's already been kind of putting our friendship on blast and putting my name out there.
"Any time he gets the chance to discredit my name he's doing it and this is just kind of crossing the line. Just to be able to put himself into the media eyes, to put me and Dominick Cruz on blast, and to really kind of look like a fool."
Faber has a fight with Cruz scheduled at UFC 199 while Dillashaw will face Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200 just over a month later.
The common thought is that the winners of those two fights will then meet with the bantamweight title on the line.
For years, Faber and Dillashaw said they would never actually fight each other out of respect for their team and their friendship, but that has all dissolved over the last few months.
Now it sounds like Dillashaw is more than happy to punch Faber, especially following the controversy that started after his accusations made it sound like the former bantamweight champion may have been a cheater.
"I never would have seen Urijah act like this kind of character," Dillashaw said. "I've always seen him as an easygoing, cool dude, but he's acting like a 14-year-old high school girl wanting to create drama."
In the interview, Dillashaw also addresses his upcoming fight with Assuncao as well as a potential rematch with Cruz, who defeated him for the UFC bantamweight title in a closely contested bout back in January.
