UFC champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk signs endorsement deal with Reebok
Fresh off her win over Jessica Penne in Germany last week, UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has signed an endorsement deal with Reebok, making her the latest athlete on the roster to ink an individual deal with the clothing and apparel company.
Jedrzejczyk has become one of the fastest rising stars on the UFC roster following her title fight victory over Carla Esparza back in March and now with her first title defense over Penne a week ago.
"Reebok has consistently shown that fitness is truly demanding," Jedrzejczyk said. "I am pleased that together we can inspire women in Poland to train as fighters. I believe a training plan that involves MMA techniques is a sure way to being fit."
Jedrzejczyk joins fellow UFC women's champion Ronda Rousey on the Reebok endorsement list alongside former titleholders Anthony Pettis and Johny Hendricks, UFC 189 headliner Conor McGregor, and budding stars Paige VanZant, Olivier Aubin-Mercier.
The most interesting dynamic to Jedrzejczyk signing her individual endorsement deal with Reebok is the fact that the shoe company is now sponsoring three women's fighters in the UFC while also currently sponsoring four male fighters as well (former UFC champ Jon Jones lost his deal after his recent arrest).
While women's MMA is still relatively new to the UFC having only joined the promotion in 2013. it's hard to deny that the two divisions currently setting up shop in the Octagon are becoming some of the most exciting and popular weight classes in the sport.
Considering the total roster of over 500 UFC fighters under contract, only 57 are women, which goes to show just how viable the athletes fighting in the bantamweight and strawwweight divisions will be to Reebok in the coming years.
Jedrzejczyk is currently on the mend from a broken thumb suffered during her TKO victory in Germany. The strawweight champion should only be sidelined for a couple of months to recover from surgery to fix the injury.
