UFC fighter gets his hair cut between rounds
Shane Burgos won a lopsided decision in his UFC debut on Friday night, but that's probably not going to be the most talked about moment from his first fight inside the Octagon.
Burgos fought Brazilian Tiago Trator with a ponytail tied in his head to start the fight, but it was no longer there when the bout was over.
Between rounds as Burgos sat in the corner, his coaches grabbed a pair of scissors and gave him an impromptu haircut as they lopped off his ponytail before sending him back out to fight.
“I told my corner that if the fight goes past the first round and my hair is getting in my face to cut it (pony tail) off," Burgos said after the fight. "It wasn’t getting in my face the first round, but it started to in the second, so I told them to cut it off. It was pretty memorable, but it was planned beforehand. That was the first Octagon haircut, right? I think that’s worth a bonus, fight of the night maybe?”
Hair in the face can be a common problem for fighters with longer hair, and it seems Burgos was tired of his man-bun and decided to get rid of it.
There's a first for everything in the UFC and now Burgos will have his name etched in history.
