UFC records fall: Every fight ends with a finish on amazing night in Sydney

What a night.

Records were toppled all over the place Friday when every fight at UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Bisping in Sydney, Australia ended in a finish. The card aired live on UFC Fight Pass.

The 11 finishes, headlined by Luke Rockhold's second-round submission over Michael Bisping, set a new UFC mark. The last time every bout ended in a stoppage was seven years ago -- at the Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale on June 23, 2007, per MMADecisions.com.

The previous record for most finishes at a UFC event was 10, which was tied Friday night when Al Iaquinta took out Ross Pearson by TKO in the second round of the co-main event. Also on the four-fight main card, Soa Palelei beat Walt Harris by TKO in the second round and Robert Whittaker did the same to Clint Hester.

The two cards with 10 finishes were UFC Fight Night: Florian vs. Lauzon on April 2, 2008 and UFC on FUEL TV: Nogueira vs. Werdum on June 8, 2013.

UFC Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Bisping also set the record for most consecutive finishes on a modern UFC card with 10, according to MMAjunkie.com's Mike Bohn. There were two previous events tied with nine.

Whittaker and Hester took home $50,000 bonuses for Fight of the Night and Rockhold and Louis Smolka won that amount for Performance of the Night. Smolka came back to beat Richie Vaculik by TKO in the third round on the prelims.

And this was only the first of two UFC events this weekend. UFC Fight Night on FOX Sports 1: "Shogun" vs. Saint Preux is live Saturday night from Uberlandia, Brazil.
