Berger scores 23, No. 18 Indiana women beat Florida 73-49
GAINSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Grace Berger scored 23 points, Brenna Wise added 16 points and No. 18 Indiana beat Florida 73-49 on Friday night.
Berger was 10 of 15 from the field with five steals and Wise only missed two of her nine attempts. Berger scored nine or her points in the third quarter to help Indiana build a 58-40 lead.
Freshman Mackenzie Holmes entered leading Indiana (4-0) with 17.3 points and 6.3 rebounds but was limited to just six points in 19 minutes. The Hoosiers head to the Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam, and will play No. 5 South Carolina on Thursday, No. 2 Baylor on Friday and Washington State on Saturday.
Kiara Smith, averaging 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, led Florida (4-1) with 18 points. Ariel Johnson added 10 points.
It was tied after the first quarter until Indiana opened the second quarter on a 18-6 run for a 34-21 lead.
