Mompremier's double-double leads No. 18 Miami women

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Beatrice Mompremier had a double-double, Kelsey Marshall scored 18 points and No. 18 Miami opened its season with an 83-68 victory over Jackson State on Sunday.

Mompremier, who averaged a double-double last season with 16.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Marshall had four rebounds and four assists to go with her 18 points. Endia Banks had 11 points and six assists and Mykea Gray scored 12 points as Miami won its 27th consecutive home opener.

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 13-2 lead three minutes into the game and led 24-10 after the first quarter. The lead reached 42-23 at halftime. After picking up two fouls in the first half and scoring just two points, Mompremier picked it up in the second half with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Ameysha Williams had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Dayzsha Rogan added 10 points for Jackson State (0-2). The Tigers got a boost from their bench, which outscored Miami 34-20.
