Fields leads No. 19 UCLA women past UC Irvine, 83-48

LOS ANGELES (AP) Nirra Fields scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and No. 19 UCLA cruised past UC Irvine, 83-48 Wednesday night in the Bruins' final nonconference home game this season.

The game was the first meeting between the schools since 2006 and first at Pauley Pavilion since 2005. UCLA has a 12-game win streak against unranked opponents.

UCLA (5-2) got off to a fast start, taking a 26-14 lead after one quarter and pushing it to 47-25 by intermission.

Jordin Canada scored 17 points and dished off three assists for the Bruins, her 12th straight game in double-figure scoring and 36th straight game with at least one assist.

The UCLA defense held UC Irvine to just 28.1 percent shooting from the field (18 of 64), including 6 of 21 from beyond the arc. The Anteaters were outrebounded 59-30.

Shereen Sutherland, Jenny Dee and Tierra Hicks each scored nine points to lead UC Irvine (3-6).
