No. 20 Northwestern women race away from W. Michigan 86-62

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) Ashley Deary scored 25 points and had 12 assists - both career bests - as Northwestern broke open a one-point game to defeat Western Michigan 86-62 on Sunday.

Deary matched her season-high of 17 points by halftime and broke her previous career best (22 points) late in the third quarter. She shot 10-for-13 from the floor with three 3-pointers. Nia Coffey scored 20 points with nine rebounds, Christen Inman added 17 points and Maggie Lyon 12 with six assists and five steals for the Wildcats (3-0).

A 3-pointer from Najee Smith, and layups by Teagan Reeves and Jessica Jessing pulled Western Michigan (2-2) to 25-24 late in the second quarter, but Northwestern went on a 55-24 run to lead 80-48 with six minutes left.

Breanna Mobley led the Broncos with 14 points and Jessing added 12.

Northwestern had 24 assists on 33 field goals, and made 14 steals.
