No. 20 South Florida women beat Jacksonville 74-52 in opener

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Courtney Williams had 34 point, 18 rebounds and three steals to lead No. 20 South Florida to a 74-52 victory over Jacksonville at the Preseason NIT and season opener for both teams on Friday night.

Kitija Laksa scored 15 points, and Alisia Jenkins added 8 points with seven rebounds for the Bulls. Briona Brown had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Sherranda Reddick and Jasmyn Brown had 9 points to lead the Dolphins.

The Bulls opened on a 15-0 run and never trailed. Williams scored 18 points in the first half as the Bulls built a 41-25 halftime lead. Brown made a pair of free thows to pull the Dolphins to 55-47 with 6:31 left to play. Williams scored 7 points and pulled in four rebounds during a 17-5 run to seal it.

South Florida started the season with its first-ever preseason top 25 ranking.
