COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) No. 2 South Carolina has lost more depth with guard Kaydra Duckett becoming the second backup to leave the Gamecocks this month.

Coach Dawn Staley said Sunday that the sophomore will step away from team activities in the spring semester to focus on academics. Last week, Staley announced freshman guard Shay Colley had left school to transfer somewhere closer to her home in Canada.

The Gamecocks (14-0) face No. 20 Missouri (14-1) later Sunday.

Duckett is a 5-foot-8 guard who played in eight games this season. She played in 20 games as a freshman, averaging fewer than three minutes.

Losing Colley and Duckett leaves the Gamecocks at 11 players.
