WWE Raw Cruiserweight Division: Full List of Superstars
It seems Monday’s episode of WWE Raw confirmed the last of the cruiserweights that will be on the show, beginning September 19.
When the WWE Brand Extension kicked off in July, Stephanie McMahon announced that a cruiserweight division will become exclusive to Raw on September 19. This is the return of a group of a concept last seen in 2007, which had Hornswoggle retire the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
WWE has announced Superstars for the cruiserweight division over the past three weeks of Raw. The list features 10 wrestlers from the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, including one already set semifinalist, one of NXT’s most popular tag teams, and a familiar face to the main roster.
According to PW Insider, the wrestlers for the division, which got three more announced on Monday, are the final ones, for now, leaving the total at 10. They will also be part of NXT and work NXT live events.
Rich Swann, Noam Dar, Brian Kendrick, and TJ Perkins were announced in the clip below on August 22.
Tommaso Ciampa, Cedric Alexander, and Johnny Gargano were made official in this clip on August 29.
On September 5, Gran Metalik, Jack Gallagher, and Akira Tozawa got confirmed as the final three competitors.
Notable omissions include the popular stars Kota Ibushi and Zack Sabre Jr. This is despite Ibushi getting an appearance on NXT and being a semifinalist for the Cruiserweight Classic. Sabre will complete for one of the final spots on Wednesday.
Regarding what these 10 wrestlers are fighting for, we noted a report from August about the Cruiserweight Championship returning. So far, WWE has not confirmed that this title will be activated for Raw, which has the Universal, Tag Team, Women’s, and United States Championships.
Are you looking forward to the cruiserweight division being on Monday nights? Which competitor are you most anticipating to see on the show?
