Sean Guenther - Healthy heading into 2026 Guenther (hip) has allowed one hit and no walks over two scoreless innings through his first two Grapefruit League appearances.

Impact Guenther is back to full health for spring training after he didn't make an appearance in the majors or minors after June 25 last season while recovering from a left hip arthroscopy. Detroit brought the 30-year-old lefty reliever back on a minor-league deal this winter, and he'll get the chance to compete for a spot in the Tigers' Opening Day bullpen throughout the spring.

Ty Madden - Demoted to minors The Tigers optioned Madden to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Madden reached the big leagues for the first time in 2024 and submitted a 4.30 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB in 23 innings, but the 25-year-old righty had his entire 2025 campaign wiped out while he recovered from a right rotator cuff strain. Though he's back to full health for spring training, Madden will need to shake off some rust and pitch effectively out of the Toledo rotation at the start of the upcoming season before getting consideration for a starting role with the big club.

Dylan Smith - Sent packing from big-league camp The Tigers optioned Smith to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Smith will still join the Tigers' big-league group for its two-game exhibition in the Dominican Republic during the upcoming week, but he'll report to minor-league camp upon returning to Florida. The 25-year-old righty allowed just two earned runs on six hits and five walks over 13 innings in his seven appearances out of the Detroit bullpen in 2025, but he'll likely need to pitch well at Toledo in the early stages of the upcoming season before earning another look in the big leagues.

Flaherty had a much sharper 3.17 ERA in 2024, his first season with the Tigers before getting traded to the Dodgers at the deadline that year. He should slot into the middle of Detroit's rotation in 2026, potentially righty behind Tarik Skubal and new addition Framber Valdez.

Impact Baez has now gone 4-for-7 through three spring games, and his home run Friday was his first of the exhibition slate. Earlier this month, the veteran was suspended from the World Baseball Classic for testing positive for marijuana in March 2023. Beau Brieske - Viewed as day-to-day Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Friday that Brieske is day-to-day with thoracic spine inflammation, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Brieske was injured in pitchers' fielding drill at practice this week and was unable to pitch in Thursday's Grapefruit League contest against Baltimore. Brieske appeared in 22 games for the Tigers last regular season, registering a 6.55 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB across 22 innings of work. He's competing for a role in the bullpen.

Troy Melton - Dealing with elbow strain Melton has a right elbow strain and will be given extended rest after visiting with a doctor this week, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact It's unclear how long Melton's shutdown period will last, but he is not expected to be ready for the beginning of the season.
