Andre Pallante - Rolls through Guardians Pallante (8-8) yielded one run on a hit and two walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out four and earning a win against Cleveland.

Impact Pallante kept the Guardians off the board through five innings before finally coughing up a run in the sixth. It was his second straight seven-inning performance after failing to complete six frames in each of his previous three outings. He registered a 13:3 K:BB while allowing only one run and earning a pair of wins in his last two starts. Pallante lowered his season ERA to 3.71 with a 90:48 K:BB through 116.1 innings. He's scheduled to wrap up his 2024 season with a start in San Francisco this weekend.

Michael Siani - On bench vs. right-hander again Siani is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians.

Impact The left-handed-hitting Siani has now been excluded from the lineup twice during the series with Cleveland, with both absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Thomas Saggese cracked the lineup in Siani's stead Friday, but Matt Carpenter will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter Sunday while Lars Nootbaar slides over from left field to cover Siani's usual spot in center field.

Michael McGreevy - Joining rotation Tuesday McGreevy is listed as the Cardinals' scheduled starting pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Impact After being called up from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday, McGreevy was put to work out of the bullpen a day later in the Cardinals' game against the Pirates. He scooped up the win while tossing three scoreless innings in relief, and he'll now get the chance to enter the St. Louis rotation for the final week of the season, taking over the spot vacated by the injured Lance Lynn (knee). Unless the Cardinals elect to expand their rotation to six men by potentially shifting Steven Matz from the bullpen, McGreevy will tentatively line up for two starts during the final week of the season. After Tuesday's contest in Colorado, McGreevy would be lined up to take the hill for the finale Sunday in San Francisco.

Jordan Walker - Goes deep Saturday Walker went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk against the Guardians in Saturday's 6-5 victory.

Impact Walker opened the scoring in the contest with a two-run shot to left field in the fourth inning. The young outfielder has been productive of late, batting .269 (7-for-26) with three home runs and eight RBI over his past eight contests. Walker looks to be finishing 2024 on a strong note following a disappointing start to the season that resulted in him spending most of the campaign in the minors.

Iván Herrera - Remains hot Saturday Herrera went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, an additional run, a double and a walk in Saturday's 6-5 win against Cleveland.

Impact Herrera clubbed a three-run shot in the seventh inning to increase the Cardinals' lead to 6-1. The catcher has gone 9-for-20 over his past seven games to push his season batting average to an impressive .293. Herrera remains behind Pedro Pages in the backstop pecking order, however, as Pages has started five of the Cardinals' past eight games behind the plate.

Ryan Helsley - Strikes out side in 46th save Helsley earned a save against the Guardians on Saturday, striking out all three batters he faced in a perfect ninth inning.

Impact Helsley had just a one-run lead to work with upon entering in the ninth frame, but he made things look easy by notching three punchouts on 12 pitches. The right-hander continued an excellent season during which he's tied for the major-league lead with 46 saves while posting a 2.12 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 77:23 K:BB over 63.2 innings. Helsley has really had his strikeout stuff working of late, as he's registered multiple punchouts in five of his past six appearances and has posted a 15:1 K:BB over seven frames during that stretch.

Miles Mikolas - Notches ninth victory Mikolas (9-11) earned the win over Cleveland on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

Impact Mikolas pitched well in the contest, throwing 59 of 81 pitches for strikes and limiting the Guardians to a single run on a fifth-inning Bo Naylor homer. The right-handed hurler recorded only six whiffs but succeeded by getting ahead of hitters, throwing 17 of 22 first pitches for strikes. Saturday's victory was his first over his past 10 outings, and it was just his third quality start during that span.

He will finish his first season as a Cardinal with a 3.84 ERA and 1.09 WHIP alongside a 203:39 K:BB across 28 starts. Kyle Leahy was recalled from Triple-A Memphis to replenish St. Louis' pitching depth.

Kyle Gibson - Takes loss in quality start Gibson (8-8) took the loss Friday as the Cardinals fell 5-1 to the Guardians, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out two.

Impact A Thomas Saggese throwing error allowed Gibson to barely qualify for his 13th quality start of the season, but he once again didn't get much run support. The right-hander has only one win since the All-Star break, going 1-5 over his last 11 outings despite a respectable 4.08 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 50:24 K:BB through 64 innings. Gibson will try to close out his season on a high note next weekend on the road in San Francisco.
