Impact Cabbage went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts upon being promoted from Triple-A on Monday, and he'll now head back to the minors after only two days with Houston. His roster spot will presumably be given to Ben Gamel, who was claimed off waivers from the Mets on Tuesday and is slated to join the Astros in Baltimore on Thursday.

Impact Cabbage was returned to Triple-A after serving as the 27th man for the Astros' two-game series with the Rockies in Mexico City last weekend, but he'll be back with the big club just two days later after Houston optioned struggling first baseman Jose Abreu to their spring training facility. While he's up with the Astros, Cabbage will provide depth in the corner outfield and at first base.

Impact Cabbage was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Aug. 25, but he's started only five of 12 games since. However, the Angels placed Randal Grichuk on waivers Wednesday, which could give Cabbage some additional playing time down the stretch. In his latest stint in the majors, he's gone 3-for-13 with six strikeouts.
