Starting against Luton Town
Konsa (knee) is starting for Aston Villa during Saturday's match against Luton Town.
Impact
Konsa returns after missing Villa's last three matches through injury. The defender had started every match this season prior to the injury and returns to the XI now that he's fully fit.

Impact
Konsa has been nearing a return in recent weeks and after a full week of training it seems he's finally ready. The defender would be a key piece of the starting XI when fit, making starts and going the full 90 in nearly every single match he's been available for. Still he will need to undergo a late fitness test to try and get back in the starting XI straight away.

Pictured at training
Konsa (knee) was pictured returning to first-team training ahead of Saturday's matchup with Luton Town.
Impact
Konsa has missed the club's last three contests due to his knee problem but could be nearing a return to action. Considering the defender started all 23 of his appearances for the club prior to getting hurt, he should be a near-lock for the starting XI once given the all-clear. In his last five outings, Konsa registered two shots (one on target), four crosses (zero accurate) and four clearances.

Impact
Konsa could be back as soon as a March 2 trip to Luton Town, though that will depend on if he can get back in full training after Saturday's clash. Konsa has been one of the first names on the team sheet whenever fit and should be a starting option upon his return.

Dealing with knee injury
Konsa could be sidelined for at least a month due to his knee injury sustained against Sheffield United on Saturday, per Matt Law of The Telegraph.
Impact
Konsa has been a mainstay in the starting XI for the club this season, featuring in all 23 Premier League contests for Villa. Considering the defender hasn't scored a goal since the 2021/22 campaign, his absence is unlikely to impact the offensive production but will no doubt hurt the backline where he is averaging 1.95 clearances per match. Matty Cash should be available to slot into the starting XI with Konsa out.

Comes off injured
Konsa was taken off in the 59th minute of Saturday's 5-0 win against Aston Villa, having gone down after colliding with the post.
Impact
Konsa's day was cut short after he appeared to pick up an injury running into the post of the goal. However, this may have been more of a cautionary move, as with the scoreline being 5-0, there was no reason to further risk one of their starter's health. The defender will now hope to return to his starting spot next weekend after a good week of recovery if he is even injured at all. Matty Cash was brought on to replace Konsa, and he would be the most reasonable replacement moving forward if the defender does miss any more time.

Signs new contract
Konsa signed a long-term contract extension with Aston Villa, the club announced.
Impact
Konsa extended his stay with Aston Villa, an unsurprising move with his major role in the first team. Konsa played in every match in 2022/23 and started all but one, and has played every single minute to open the 2023/24 Premier League. Konsa will remain the first name on the team sheet moving forward.

Registers 10 clearances
Konsa has recorded 10 clearances, 10 tackles (seven won) and three interceptions through four matches.
Impact
Konsa has started all four contests for the club and figures to remain a fixture in the starting XI after starting all but one of his 38 outings last season. The defender failed to score a goal during the 2022-23 campaign, registering just eight shots (zero on target), so fantasy players shouldn't be expecting much in the way of offensive production moving forward.

Has another solid campaign
Konsa made 42 tackles, 114 clearances, 26 interceptions and 23 blocks, helped his side to keep 11 clean sheets and picked up six yellow card over 38 appearances (37 starts).
Impact
Konsa kept making a great partnership with Tyrone Mings at the heart of the defense, starting in all but one matches and putting up solid numbers game after game. Diego Carlos, who had a torn Achilles during the second game of the campaign, should be fully fit for next year and bring some competition for the two central spots on the back line but Konsa will certainly have the edge at the start of the preseason.

Three clearances in clean sheet
Konsa created one chance, made three clearances and kept a clean sheet in Saturday's 1-0 win versus Crystal Palace.
Impact
Konsa had a solid performance Saturday, as he played a big part in his team keeping a second consecutive clean sheet. He intercepted one pass, made three clearances and blocked one shot in his 90 minutes of action. On the attack, he created one chance (his first since Oct. 20 versus Fulham), and took one off-target shot. He has a decent to make it three clean sheets in a row next Sunday at West Ham, who have scored just 23 goals in 25 league matches this season.

Wins four aerials in shutout win
Konsa held a clean sheet and racked up four aerials won and three fouls drawn in Saturday's 1-0 victory against Southampton.
Impact
Konsa and the Villa back line held second clean sheet in last four matches and the team has been improving of late. The defender hasn't offered much offensively but has been productive in defensive peripheral stats.

Makes five clearances in loss
Konsa made five clearances and logged one tackle during Saturday's 4-0 loss to Newcastle United.
Impact
Konsa continues to start in each contest no matter how little time there is to recover. He's made 18 tackles in 13 appearances while keeping three clean sheets and it might be worth tracking how he performs under new manager Unai Emery.

Logs four tackles in loss
Konsa logged four tackles (one won) and put one shot off target in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
Impact
Konsa has started in two of his three appearances so far, recording five tackles (two won) and making two blocks. It hasn't been a bright start defensively overall as the team has conceded five goals in three games and Konsa's defensive work isn't enough to overcome that while producing favorable numbers.

Gets minutes in friendly
Konsa (knee) played the second half of Wednesday's friendly against Brisbane Roar.
Impact
Konsa returned a little quicker than expected, as there was a chance he'd miss the first month of the season. Instead, he's already been training a couple weeks and is already featuring in friendlies. On the downside, he may no longer have a guaranteed spot in the starting XI following the addition of Diego Carlos this summer.

Konsa posted pictures Wednesday of him training on grass for the first time since hurting his knee in May.
Impact
It's still likely to be until September until Konsa is able to play, but this is a good update early into the preseason that he's on track for now. In 29 starts before the injury ended his season, Konsa scored twice and racked up eight clean sheets.

Impact
It's somewhat of a positive update for Konsa, who didn't suffer a torn ACL. He'll rehab his knee throughout summer and hope to be ready early next season with a hopeful timeline being early September. He ends another successful campaign at Aston Villa, totaling two goals and eight clean sheets from 29 starts, only down from last season's 35 starts because of injury.
