Posts double-double in relief Curbelo logged 10 points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 202 FT), 10 rebounds, eight assists and one steal over 31 minutes in Thursday's 86-70 win over Nebraska.

Impact Curbelo took on an increased role off the bench Thursday with Ayo Dosunmu (nose) unavailable, and he came within two assists of posting a triple-double for the Fighting Illini. It's still not clear whether Dosunmu will be able to return for Saturday's matchup against Wisconsin, but Curbelo would presumably see increased run once again if he's unavailable.

Heavy usage off bench Curbelo totaled 14 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-8 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals over 27 minutes in Saturday's 81-78 loss to Missouri.

Impact Curbelo saw a season-high 27 minutes on the floor Saturday, and he was quite productive despite his bench role. He got into some foul trouble in the loss, but he's now averaging 11.0 points, 3.2 reounds and 2.8 assists over 19.0 minutes per game to begin his freshman season.

Expected to play Wednesday Curbelo (ankle) practiced Monday and is expected to be able to play in Wednesday's game against Baylor, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.

Impact Curbelo went down with an ankle injury in last Friday's win over Ohio. His return to practice a few days later should be an indicator that it is not that serious and it's not expected that the freshman will be limited at all in Wednesday's game.

Impact Curbelo was incredibly productive for the Illini on Thursday, but he left Friday's game early after suffering an ankle injury while diving for the ball. The severity of the issue isn't yet known, but he'll have a few days to recover before Illinois takes on Baylor on Wednesday.

Impact Curbelo has made an impact for Illinois over his first two games as a freshman. The 6-foot-1 guard has committed four turnovers in each of his first two collegiate games, but he could be in the mix for a role with the Illini during his freshman season.
