Gabe Kalscheur - Lights it up in conference openerKalscheur chipped in 23 points (7-13 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 4-5 FT), one rebound, one assist and three steals over 36 minutes during Saturday's 77-62 victory over Baylor.
ImpactKalscheur started his second game of the season with Cyclones power forward Aljaz Kunc sidelined due to a broken finger. The fifth-year guard, who started all but one of 35 games last year, went on to match his best scoring performance of the season while also making a season-high seven field goals and five three-pointers. Kalscheur and starting shooting guard Caleb Grill were also the only two Iowa State players to score more than 10 points, and these are now tied for second on the team in points per game (10.7) behind Jaren Holmes (13.5). With Kunc likely to miss some additional time moving forward, expect Kalscheur to start again Wednesday versus Oklahoma.

Osun Osunniyi - Solid contributions in winOsunniyi finished Saturday's 77-62 victory over Baylor with eight points (3-4 FG, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block across 21 minutes.
ImpactOsunniyi notched his most productive overall performance in a month while more than 20 minutes for the first time since the Nov. 27 loss to Connecticut. The 6-foot-10 center also did not seem to be slowed by the ankle injury he suffered two weeks ago against Western Michigan, as he grabbed at least four boards for the sixth time while also logging his sixth block in 12 starts. With 6-foot-8 power forward Aljza Kunc likely to miss some time with a broken finger, Osunniyi and backup center Robert Jones could both be in line for increased usage Wednesday against Oklahoma.
