Impact Newman came off the bench to contribute a season-high 18 points, shooting 77.8% from the floor and 75% from three. He also added three steals after having posted just eight points and one steal across 40 minutes combined through the first two games. Newman started 30 out of 88 games through three seasons with Purdue prior to transferring to Western Kentucky, where he started all 34 games, averaging 10.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 25.6 minutes. He posted a career-high 29 points as a freshman with Purdue in 2020 and is capable of putting up a few random big performances off the bench this season for the Cowboys.
