Impact Bates supplied his best performance of Big East play, with his point, rebound and assist totals setting new in-conference highs for the big man. Five of his rebounds were offensive as well. That being said, a lack of two-way rebounding and general volatility from Bates has hurt Butler at times.

Jalen Thomas - Retreats to bench Thomas will head back to the bench for Wednesday's game versus Providence with Manny Bates returning to the starting five after a three-game absence.

Impact Thomas has started all three games in Bates' absence, and overall has started seven of the last eight for the Bulldogs. The 6-10 senior had a rough go from the floor Jan. 22, going scoreless on five shot attempts. He'll look to settle into a complimentary role behind Bates moving forward.

Impact Bates was declared active earlier in the day, and he'll now officially return to the starting five against Providence. The center had missed Butler's last three games, but was an every-game starter before that. Bates is putting up 12.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists, and his return to the lineup will be a welcome sight for Butler.

Impact The Bulldogs will get some reassurance in their frontcourt with the return of Bates after the big man was forced to miss the last three games. The N.C. State transfer has taken on a large role in his first year in Indianapolis, averaging 12.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks over 29.1 minutes per game. It's likely he could slot right back into his starting role and should see a healthy dose of minutes while pushing Jalen Thomas back to the bench.
