Noah Fernandes - Productive opening nightFernandes logged 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt), eight rebounds, four assists and one steal across 24 minutes during Monday's 94-67 win over Central Connecticut State.
ImpactFernandes had been battling a wrist injury for much of the later part of the offseason, but last year's leading scorer was back in the starting five for opening night. When the competition gets tougher, look for Fernandes to see more playing time and shot volume while alternating between the point guard and shooting guard spots.

Ta'Quan Woodley - Away from teamWoodley has been away from the team and is not expected to be back for the foreseeable future according to coach Frank Martin, via Pedro Gray Soares of the UMass Sports Network.
ImpactWoodley did not play in the team's exhibition game last week. He has a familiarity with coach Frank Martin after following him from South Carolina. Woodley averaged 2.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game last season and was expected to carry on a bigger role with the Minutemen in 2022-23. We'll have to wait until we get another update, but it doesn't seem like we should expect Woodley to make an impact with UMass for some time.
