Will play right away at TCU The NCAA approved O'Bannon's (ankle) request for a waiver last week, making him immediately eligible to compete at TCU, Adam Zagoria of The New York Times reports. Impact O'Bannon transferred to TCU in January, but since he didn't leave USC with his degree, he needed a waiver from the NCAA in order to compete in 2020-21. With his eligibility having now been resolved, O'Bannon should face no barriers in his effort to secure a spot in the TCU rotation, as coach Jamie Dixon recently told Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the 6-foot-6 wing is also "healthy and ready to go" after having dealt with an ankle sprain shortly before leaving USC. O'Bannon appeared in 18 games during an injury-plagued three-year run at USC, averaging 1.8 points in 5.6 minutes per contest. Now that he's healthy again, the redshirt junior should have a clearer path to playing time at TCU, which lost its top scorer from 2019-20, Desmond Bane, to graduation.
