Impact Gillespie scored a season-high 26 points with some beautiful drives down low that established him as a threat in the paint early in the game. Ball movement was at a premium all night, the Wildcats recorded just seven total assists but that didn't stop Gillespie from creating his own space. He scored three unassisted three-pointers, and regularly drove into the lane to take advantage of defenders on their heels. The senior has scored over 20 points twice through the first eight games this season and has posted double-digit points in all eight affairs. This was his first game without an assist since 2018.

Impact Gillespie was one of four Wildcats to score double-digits in Sunday's win. He led Villanova in points and assists on the night, and all three of his first-half assists resulted in three-pointers. The senior has averaged 15.5 points, 4.2 assists and 2.8 rebounds through 33.3 minutes per game over the first six games of the season.
