Georgetown wins 81-57 over Creighton to open Big East schedule

Led by Jayden Epps' 21 points, the Georgetown Hoyas defeated the Creighton Bluejays 81-57 to open Big East Conference play on Wednesday night

Micah Peavy - Big seven steals in blowout winPeavy provided 20 points (9-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, eight assists, one block and seven steals over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 81-57 victory over Creighton.
ImpactAlthough Peavy's 20 points in the huge blowout win was impressive in itself, he also registered a whopping seven steals against the Blue Jays. His lockdown defense definitely attributed to Creighton only being able to score 57 points, and the senior guard should be relied on heavily once against versus Seton Hall on Sunday.

Mason Miller - Another goose egg in third startMiller totaled zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and two rebounds over 17 minutes during Wednesday's 81-57 loss to Georgetown.
ImpactMiller has now been in the starting lineup for the Blue Jays in three-straight outings, but he's failed to score in any of these games. The junior forward did only shoot two times which were from behind the arc, but his role at least right now may be to find other scorers. Nonetheless, his low production is less will hopefully not become a true trend as Creighton plays Villanova on Saturday.

Steven Ashworth - Leading scorer in embarrassing lossAshworth registered 21 points (7-17 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal across 36 minutes during Wednesday's 81-57 loss to Georgetown.
ImpactThe Blue Jays overall couldn't get much going against the Hoyas, but Ashworth provided just about the only consistent offensive production for the team. Even though he led Creighton with 21 points, his three pointers really weren't falling even with five going in. The senior guard has now scored 17 or more points in his last four outings, and he'll look to still stay solid offensively as the squad looks to bounce back versus Villanova on Saturday.
4 DAYS AGOROTOWIRE
Malik Mack - Considered day-to-dayMack will not play in Wednesday's game against Creighton with a lower body injury and is considered day-to-day, Georgetown Hoops reports.
ImpactMack will miss his first game of the season as he deals with a lower body injury. The sophomore guard will aim to be back for Sunday's meeting with Seton Hall.
