Impact Disu hadn't been cleared for full contact work as of a few weeks back, so it's no surprise to see Texas keep him sidelined for a relatively meaningless exhibition tilt. In his stead, Christian Bishop drew the start at center, while Tre Mitchell chipped in 16 points off the bench. Disu will certainly have a role once cleared, but his ultimate fantasy value might be hurt by the fact that Texas has three centers on its roster capable of starting at nearly any high-major school.

Impact The case is the same as a report from Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com seven days earlier, though both note that coach Chris Beard believes Disu could still be ready for the first week of the season. Disu is coming off an outstanding sophomore season at Vanderbilt in which he averaged 15.0 points and 9.2 rebounds, but the time missed will appear to cost him the starting center job to fellow transfer player Tre Mitchell. The next big milestone to check up on Disu will be a Nov. 1 exhibition matchup against Texas Lutheran.

Impact Disu is one of a slew of high-profile incoming transfers for the Longhorns, who overhauled their roster once Beard was brought aboard as head coach in April. While with Vanderbilt as a sophomore in 2020-21, Disu was one of the SEC's top big men, averaging 15.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.4 three-pointers, 1.4 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals in 31.7 minutes per game before undergoing season-ending knee surgery in late February. If Beard's prediction comes to pass and Disu is at full health for the start of the season, he should be the top candidate to step in as Texas' new starting center after Jericho Sims moved on to the NBA.

Impact This report originally surfaced back on September 23, suggesting Disu could be up to speed in practice soon, if not already. Once ready to go, Disu will have to compete for minutes at the center spot with fellow transfer Tre Mitchell (UMass) and Christian Bishop (Creighton) in what is potentially the deepest frontcourt in the entire nation. The first indication of what that rotation may look like should arrive Nov. 1, when the Longhorns are scheduled to take on Texas Lutheran in an exhibition matchup. Texas will officially open up its season Nov. 9 against Houston Baptist.

Impact The sophomore's season has come to an abrupt conclusion, as Disu seemed just fine during Vanderbilt's loss to Alabama on Saturday when he logged 33 minutes and posted a double-double. Disu was having a terrific year with the Commodores prior to his knee injury and has surely made his case for most improved player in the conference. With Disu now sidelined for the rest of the 2020-21 campaign, Quentin Millora-Brown will likely see an increased role to finish out the year.
