Impact Olaniyi has missed the last 10 games for Stony Brook with his leg injury. The 6-foot-5 guard started the first three games for the Seawolves, averaging nine points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.7 steals on 29.3 minutes per game. It is likely that he will be eased back into action as he last played on Nov. 22.

Impact Olaniyi transferred back to Stony Brook for the 2021-22 season after a one-year stint at Miami, returning to the program that helped him post career highs in scoring (18.0 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg) back in 2019-20. It unfortunately sounds like he could be sidelined quite a while, as Ford was unable to provide a timetable, instead expressing hopefulness that he'll return eventually. Until then, players such as Anthony Roberts, Tykei Green and Omar Habwe will be asked to pick up the slack.

The fact that he logged heavy minutes should be encouraging and this might lead to Olaniyi having a big role straight away for the Hurricanes. His next chance to play will come Dec. 19 against Jacksonville.

Coach Larranaga said that if that happens, Olaniyi would play significant, and possibly all 40 minutes against Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
